Connectivity is paramount. A simple requirement that goes for production, logistics and the supply chain in general. Through its Gateway, ProGlove addresses this very need with a solution that is as simple as it is comprehensive. The Gateway thus complements the ProGlove Insight Mobile Apps as well as the SDKs for iOS and Android. Yet the ultra-light piece of hardware is only about the size of a folded handkerchief.
The ProGlove Gateway Connects to Stationary Terminals In No Time
There is no doubt that mobility is increasingly gaining ground in industries. Of course, this includes the respective “mobile” operating systems. Yet with that being said, it would certainly go too far to assume stationary terminals and workstations will be disappearing completely. However, operating systems such as Windows and Linux play an immensely important role in these stationary environments. And these are precisely the targets for the ProGlove Gateway.
It can be connected to a stationary computer in no time with a micro-USB connection. The boot process takes about a minute. So, it’s fair to call it plug & play! Pairing the scanners with the ProGlove Gateway is just as easy. Users simply scan the QR code on the device. Their MARK scanner will connect subsequently, and they can get to work right away. Up to five MARK scanners can log onto one ProGlove Gateway at the same time via Bluetooth Low Energy.
Additionally, the Gateway can also function as a “USB mass storage”. This mode serves to exchange files between the host and the Gateway. Users can import these files to complete firmware updates or configuration profiles, for example. The runtime information is exported as files in the “status” folder of the USB mass storage device. This is extremely helpful, if the Gateway is not visually accessible for scanning the pairing QR code. Users can then access the pairing QR code in the status folder and connect.
Easy Access To ProGlove Insight
However, the ProGlove Gateway offers much more. For instance: with an active web portal account the Gateway can be easily connected to ProGlove Insight. Users can thus benefit from Insight’s advanced analytics capabilities.
To communicate with this cloud platform, users need to connect their Gateway devices to the Insight web portal. To do this, they must enable their Gateway devices to connect to their Internet router (Wi-Fi) by assigning credentials for their network (router) to each Gateway.
The outstanding advantages of ProGlove Insight became particularly clear during the last Smart Factory Lab On Air on March 23. Michael Gryszko-Prattes, Director of Distribution at Asics, Ville Heimgartner, Smart Urban Logistics Consultant at DPD, and Christian Just, Logistics Team Lead at Horsch, were among the participants.
