The MARK On Wheels tour has become something like an evergreen. On and on the team travels in good spirits eager to meet with customers and partners. After the recent focus on the automotive sector, the MARK On Wheels crew met with dpd, Signa Sports United and others.
The MARK On Wheels tour certainly is an opportunity for us to share our history. And for obvious reasons we talk a lot about the automotive industry when commemorating our past. Yet the truth of the matter is our glove scanners are a game changer for many other industries, too. This pertains to any business that has a lot of barcode scanning to do. In other words: logistics & warehousing, retail & e-commerce, courier express parcel services.
Warehouses and distribution centers feel the e-commerce boom
We did not need the MARK On Wheels tour to understand that the pandemic generated a massive surge in e-commerce transactions. But it is worth highlighting the heightened ripple effect felt by warehouses and distribution centers around the world.
We are all shopping online and have the purchase delivered to our front doors. For us as consumers, that means a significant raise in comfort. Even our very own MARK On Wheels team seized this opportunity to take care of the shopping needs while they were on the road. What may surprise some, however, is that e-commerce means more effort and manual work in logistics.
The reason is close at hand: Shipping formats vary drastically. This in turn blocks automation and requires the smart hands of the human worker. But ProGlove’s wearable barcode scanners can address this issue easily. That is why we are demonstrating them during our MARK On Wheels tour. That way, businesses can see it in action for themselves. And, in the comfort of their very own home, so to speak.
MARK On Wheels tour provides opportunity to check out products on site
But there is more to this topic. Organizations also need to take the occurrence of peaks into account. To put this into context: Most of us tend to do our online shopping some time during the weekend. So, we are generating a peak. Logistics, shipping and distribution businesses then get to feel this raise during the first half of the week. Christmas, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and other events obviously cause increases, too. How businesses can respond was certainly an extensive topic during the MARK On Wheels tour.
This time we got to meet dpd, Signa Sports United and others. Not only did the talks confirm our take, but all participants also welcomed the opportunity to check out our products on site. However, we found that the fun really begins when they go through the development of our entire prototypes in the back of the truck. In that sense, the MARK On Wheels Tour has come full circle. Let’s see where we go from here …
